Kathy Weiss

Kathy Weiss is the Director of Hickey Global Canada,supporting business development and project management services for the Canadian public sector.

Before joining Hickey Global Canada, Kathy spent 23 years in the public sector in Ontario, Canada, as Director of Economic Development & Tourism in three different municipalities – the City of Kitchener, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, and Durham Region. During the past ten years of her career, Kathy implemented a Foreign Direct Investment Strategy, which included business dealings in China, Germany, Brazil, and the USA, key investment, and trade markets.  Attending global trade shows and meeting one-on-one with potential investors resulted in supporting hundreds of companies and securing several investments, joint ventures, and post-secondary partnerships.

In 2019, Kathy left the public sector to start her own consulting business to help foreign companies export into Canada. Eight months later, the world faced the Covid pandemic. Kathy became involved in the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) business, selling her first order of 250,000 medical gowns from China and thousands of face masks and nitrile gloves.  Nearing the end of COVID, Kathy was hired by the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake as Project Facilitator for Economic Development and Tourism projects which included RFP writing, project management, and relationship building.

As Past-President of the Economic Development Council of Ontario (EDCO), where she actively served eight years as a board member, Kathy helped shape the organization's new direction of modernization. Kathy has also worked with and supported the following professional affiliations:

Kathy has a Masters Certification in Economic Development from the University of Waterloo, a Masters Certification Municipal Leadership from York University, and a Diploma in Business Administration from Niagara College and is a former certified Economic Developer from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

Lauren Millier

Lauren Millier is a Principal with Hickey Global Canada, supporting business development and project management services for the Canadian public sector.

Before joining Hickey Global Canada, Lauren was co-founder of MDB Insight, (formerly Millier Dickinson Blais),which, after 15 years of providing high-quality consulting, was acquired by Deloitte’s Economic Advisory practice in 2022.

This followed a career in municipal land use policy planning and economic development advisory services in both the public and private sectors.

Lauren has successfully led a multitude of economic development related projects for large urban communities across Canada including Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Mississauga and Ottawa. Lauren has built an extensive professional network across Canada and is well-respected for the quality of work she provides.

Lauren has also worked extensively in Alberta and the Calgary Region having completed Calgary’s first economic development strategy in 2008 and a subsequent update in 2014. She worked with CED in the completion of Alberta’s Health Industry Assessment and in the creation of an economic development strategy for the Calgary Regional Partnership.

Lauren is a member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) retired, and the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) retired.

Lauren has her Bachelor of Environmental Science degree from the University of Waterloo and is currently working on her Master of Public Administration (Management) with Dalhousie University.

Jonathan Pigeon

Prior to joining Hickey, Jonathan worked as an economic development analyst for CIDEP, working as a Trade and FDI analyst. Jonathan distinguishes himself by his analytical skills, his willingness to satisfy customer expectations and by the quality of the work he delivers. Whether it’s producing a business plan, assisting with the application of various incentive programs, writing a strategic plan, or conducting a location or workforce analysis, Jonathan always delivers quality reports and presentations.
